Can Ariana Grande Beat Mariah Carey And Lady Gaga In Fragrance Wars?

Ariana Grande is one hot star. Ms. Grande is not only topping the charts but is extending her business to the perfume world. The New York Daily News reports on Ariana Grande’s latest business venture.

“She’s conquered music, fashion and acting and now the whirlwind that is Ariana Grande is set to launch her assault on the fragrance industry. The singer and actress will be releasing her first scent in association with Luxe Brand.”

Ariana Grande tells Women’s Wear Daily that she is very excited about her new perfume.

“I have always been obsessed with perfume. I always carried like six different scents in my bag, another three in my suitcase and another couple in my car. I’m asked so often about which fragrance I’m wearing, or if I have a signature scent. I do have favorites, but I really want to create something that encompasses everything I love.”

Ariana Grande is following the steps of Mariah Carey, a superstar she has supposedly replaced in the music world. Mariah launched her Dreams fragrance to stores in March of 2013, and it didn’t exactly fly off the shelves. Lady Gaga released her Fame fragrance in 2012. Although Gaga herself reported sales to be record breaking, the fragrance soon found itself on discount shelves everywhere. There are no reports on how her second fragrance, Eau de Gaga, has faired.

The exact smell of Ariana Grande’s new fragrance hasn’t been revealed, but Refinery29 predicts it will have somewhat of a rainbow scent.

“Given Ariana’s penchant for bows, bunny ears, and the color pink, we’re going to take an educated guess and say that the scent will stay safely in the ‘sweet, gourmand’ category. When you spray it on (using a pink atomizer, perhaps?), it will release a magical mist of rainbows and fairy dust — the liquid version of Glitter (sorry, Mariah, I had to!) — and have a faint smell of brand-new lipstick, fresh from the tube”

Let’s hope Grande’s new fragrance is just as successful as her latest album My Everything, which is still in the top 20 after 25 weeks on the Billboard 200 album chart. The album has spawned several hit singles such as “Problem” and “Break Free.” Grande has also been praised for her recent NBA Halftime Show performance, which featured an appearance by Nicki Minaj. Are you going to buy Ariana Grande’s latest fragrance, or do you think pop stars should just stick to their day jobs?
