WWE News: Paige Says Charlotte Isn’t Ready For WWE Call-Up, Bring On Sasha Banks

In a recent interview with the International Business Times, WWE Diva Paige was asked about a variety of topics related to her past in wrestling and the future of the Diva’s division. One surprising quote from Paige centered around whether or not Charlotte, daughter of the legendary Ric Flair, is ready to be called up from NXT to the WWE’s main roster.

“She’s good. She’s still new, so I feel like at one point people want to see her, but they’re kind of rushing it. I think she could do with some more time, but I still think Sasha Banks is the one that I personally want to come up and who I think is completely ready and the full package, boxed up and ready to go. I feel like she’d be absolutely perfect up here. Charlotte is good, but (needs) some more time.”

Charlotte has been earning rave reviews from fans and wrestling insiders alike while performing in NXT, but one would think that Paige would know better than most whether or not Charlotte is ready for the bright lights of Monday Night RAW. Paige and Charlotte wrestled a few times while in NXT, and the two reportedly had a tremendous match together during WrestleMania Axxess last year in New Orleans.

That being said, Charlotte is still less than three years into her wrestling career (she signed her developmental contract with WWE on May 17, 2012). It’s not surprising she has been as fast of a learner as she has, given the fact that her father is one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. However, if she spends a bit more time in developmental improving her craft even more, we could be looking at one of the best WWE women’s wrestlers in a generation. Triple H is reportedly a big supporter of Charlotte’s work, as well.

Paige’s mention of Sasha Banks being ready for the call-up to WWE is also an interesting part of the story. Banks has been wrestling two more years than Charlotte, having started her career in 2010 as part of Chaotic Wrestling in the New England area of the United States. After two years on the independent scene, she came to WWE’s developmental territory in 2012. Sasha’s NXT television debut actually came in a match with Paige back in December, 2012.

The current NXT Women’s Champion Banks certainly stands out as a star of the future, and a potential call-up to the main roster could bring about some interesting feuds. Paige and Sasha are no strangers to each other in the ring, having feuded several times when Paige was in NXT. Sasha’s original NXT heel turn came after turning on Paige, and her current persona of “The Boss” began shortly thereafter.

Regardless of which of these women, Sasha Banks or Charlotte, gets called up to the main roster first, it is a certainty that both, along with Paige, will be focal points of the Diva’s division for many years to come.
