WWE News: Backstage Update On The Current Plan For ‘WrestleMania 31’ Main Event

WWE Fast Lane is approaching this Sunday, and the WWE is gearing up for the last pay-per-view until WrestleMania 31. As of the last report, Vince McMahon changed his mind on the main event and decided to put Daniel Bryan in the match with Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar. There could be a wrench in those rumored plans.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the main event plans for WrestleMania 31 are stagnant, which means Daniel Bryan is not involved.

“Dave Meltzer stated Wednesday on Wrestling Observer Radio that Vince McMahon had not yet changed his mind on Reigns and Lesnar headlining WrestleMania 31. Reddit.com user MetsFan4Ever, a former WWE employee who maintains contact with people in the organization, added Thursday that Reigns vs. Lesnar is currently the planned main event for the show.”

Is this the right move by WWE? Perhaps giving Daniel Bryan the main event spot again is only caving to the WWE Universe’s demands. The only problem that would start is that WWE officials cannot stand by their own ideas. Whether they are right or wrong, the WWE usually stands by their decisions.

Bryan made sense for the main event last year at WrestleMania 30. He was the hottest superstar going, aside from a departed CM Punk. It made too much sense to add Bryan to the main event with Randy Orton and Batista. However, this year feels different. Bryan was injured most of the year, so a lot of the fans didn’t have a full calendar year to watch him wrestle.

Roman Reigns is the controversial subject in the main event. There are many ways the WWE can go about the main event, but letting the Beast Incarnate and Reigns battle might prove it’s best for business. At the moment, WWE seems to be testing out a heel persona on Reigns. If it is successful, then having Paul Heyman jump ship to Roman Reigns is a sensational idea. In fact, it makes too much sense not to do.

The big word right now is “if” in the WWE. A lot of variables need to be calculated before they confirm any WrestleMania 31 plans. At WWE Fast Lane this Sunday, there’s conversations among the WWE Universe that Sheamus will interrupt the Daniel Bryan vs. Roman Reigns match and cost Bryan his shot at the WWE World Heavyweight championship.

That is a very possible scenario, one that isn’t publicly being teased. If the WWE thought the Royal Rumble was bad, the jeers from WWE Fast Lane audience members will be much worse if that does occur.
