Frozen Fecal Matter Blocks Interstate 65 Exit Ramp Onto Indiana 18

In what has been widely dubbed a “toxic poopsicle,” there was a decidedly unpleasant blockage on an interstate exit ramp in Indiana Thursday as a load of fecal matter was accidentally spilled and then froze solid, closing the exit.

It happened close to Lafayette, Indiana, where apparently a tanker truck accidentally dropped around 300 to 400 gallons on raw sewage onto the road.

Indiana State Police Sgt. Kim Riley said that the spilled fecal matter on the southbound Interstate 65 exit ramp to Indiana Highway 19 was piled up to 6 or 8 inches deep in places.

To add insult to injury, due to the very old weather conditions the fecal matter froze making for what USA Today calls a rather nasty “toxic poopsicle” and a real traffic hazard. According to Riley, they have been unsuccessful in tracking down the driver of the truck, who probably didn’t even realize he had lost his load until he reached the waste water treatment plant.

IndyStar noted that, while police continue to try their best to find the accidental culprit, the Indiana Department of Transportation (DOT) immediately had crews out cleaning up the frozen fecal matter, while the White County Health Department kept a healthful eye on the situation.

Before they could even begin, it was necessary for the ramp to be salted and sanded so that the the clean up could progress safely. Reportedly, by around 5 p.m., the DOT crews had a front loader scraping the frozen excrement off the road and loading it onto a dump truck ready to cart the whole frozen and smelly mess away.

The Indiana State police said that all the frozen fecal matter was removed and the ramp newly cleaned and re-opened a couple of hours later.

Then there was the New Jersey man who, as reported on the Inquisitr, deliberately made icy and dangerous road conditions to cover up a DWI accident. While there was no frozen fecal matter involved in that particular incident, the local police were apparently not amused.
