Watch That Awkward Moment When A Single Danish Man Is Spotted At ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’
If you are a single guy living in Denmark, it seems you might be embarrassed if caught watching Fifty Shades of Grey on your own. A middle-aged Aalborg man experienced a totally awkward moment where he was Fifty Shades of embarrassed this week
As the notorious bondage epic does the rounds of the cinemas worldwide, funny little stories crop up. In this case, while a woman was interviewed in the foyer of a movie theater, a single man, obviously embarrassed, is caught in the background on video. Now his sheer discomfiture is going viral on the Danish social media and YouTube generally.
It seems the Danish are lapping up the new movie, as the Local reports sex shops in the country can’t keep up with the sales of blindfolds, whips and other adult toys.
Sabina Elvstram-Johns, the owner of the Copenhagen sex shop Lust, told the local media that since the first Fifty Shades of Grey book was released in 2012, they have noted a significant increase in the sale of sex toys.
“We have expanded our customer base ever since. I can tell that Mr. and Mrs. Denmark now want to experiment with their wild side.”
However, it seems not everyone likes to show openly how much they enjoy that wild side. A Danish man, apparently in the cinema alone, was recently caught on video at the Aalborg premiere of the movie. The local broadcaster TV2/Nord was there, interviewing people and while they spoke to a middle aged woman, the shy guy appears in the background.

The Daily Mail, humorously dubbing the incident “Shifty Shades of Grey,” notes that in a totally awkward moment, the man notices the camera and stops dead, retracts his steps, then nervously comes forward again. He obviously realizes the TV crew isn’t going anywhere in a hurry, so eventually he makes a quick run for the door.
Ironically, this all happens while the woman reportedly talks about why men are staying away from the film. Boy, was this guy’s face red.
Since the video was uploaded to YouTube Tuesday, the 22-second clip has received quite a bit of attention. As of today’s date there have been 2.5 million views and thousands of comments mostly poking fun at the man, many too pornographic to repeat, but some a little tamer.
“That guy knows he just got his man card revoked… permanently.”
Another one came to the man’s defense saying it doesn’t mean he’s any less of a man.
“Why does it matter if a man saw it? Just because a man sees a feminine movie, it doesn’t make him weak, any less of a man, or a pervert.”
Yet another came to the defense of the man’s awkward moment, saying there’s nothing wrong with a guy watching Fifty Shades of Grey.
“Men are not supposed to be conventionalized by archaic gender roles. People are individuals, not herds of cattle.”
Meanwhile, apparently the film was panned by critics in Denmark as being dull “housewife porn,” and reportedly the movie does tend to attract the more female type of audience in the country.
Of course, it’s not only in Denmark that controversy surrounds the movie, as the Inquisitr reports there was an uproar at a Concord, California, drive-in which has two screens recently. Apparently one screen was playing the family-friendly SpongeBob SquarePants: Sponge Out Of Water, while the other was simultaneously playing Fifty Shades of Grey. This was yet another awkward moment among many related to the rather risqué film.
