LG G3 Gets Android 5.0 Lollipop Update: Users Complain Of Software Bugs

LG G3 users can now get the Android 5.0 Lollipop. The carrier released an OTA update that brings Google’s latest version of Android to the flagship smartphone. But not everyone is happy about it. Some LG G3 users are already complaining of the software’s bugs.

Many LG G3 owners have been waiting to find out when their smartphones would receive the update to the Android 5.0 Lollipop. The Samsung Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 devices begun receiving the update in regions outside of the U.S., according to Tech Times. Other U.S. variants of both smartphones should also expect to receive the update in the near future.

Sprint just announced that it has an OTA update for the LG G3. The carrier also provided a rundown of the most notable features that users will receive along with the update on its site.

“A rundown of the new features include Android 5.0 Lollipop’s Material Design UI, enhanced multitasking, battery life improvements, ability to interact with notifications on the lock screen, and prioritized notifications. LG G3 users will also benefit from having quick access to shortucts like Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, and battery usage by simply swiping down from the top of the display. There’s also an update to Google Mobile Services, which allows users to automatically back up photos and videos taken with the LG G3’s camera.”

LG G3 users under AT&T also started receiving notifications that the Android 5.0.1 Lollipop OS update is available. The announcement from the carrier confirmed that the OS upgrade will be released over Wi-Fi through Firmware Over The Air update.

Some LG G3 users already encountered problems when they refreshed their mobile software to the new version of Android. According to Christian Today, complaints have been vented out in both tech forums and social media. LG G3 users reported that the smartphone has poor battery life, numerous app issues and low performance. The Android OS also has no lock screen widgets and the ability to see only two notifications at a time on the LG G3.

LG G3 users who plan to upgrade to the 5.0.1 version of Android Lollipop may want to wait for now. If you own a Sprint LG G3 and want to install the OTA Android 5.0 Lollipop software update, open the Settings app on your smartphone, tap System Upgrades, tap Update LG Software, and tap Check Now. You should receive a notification that there’s a software update for your LG G3 phone.
