Ariana Grande Goes Apocalyptic With ‘One Last Time’ Video, May Have Pinched Idea? [Videos]

In line with so many popular end-of-the-world themed movies these days, Ariana Grande has a brand new video version of her hit “One Last Time,” set in a world about to be devastated by a giant comet.

The video shows scenes just before a comet hits the Earth, causing the Apocalypse and possibly wiping us all out, but according to Ariana, and as reported in Rolling Stone, she feels fine.

Using a moving, single camera, live at the scene technique, Grande and her supposed love interest in the video travel across the chaotic remains of an urban landscape where riots and mayhem rule. They go searching for their ideal spot to spend their last moments together before the giant comet wipes everything out.

However, the video, directed by Max Landis, might just get Ariana in a bit of trouble. Mind you, the Australian band SAFIA is saying on Facebook that the striking similarities between Grande’s end-of-the-world musical video and their song “You are the One” might merely be a coincidence.

“This might just be coincidence but to us it looks like either the people at Ariana Grande’s label or the film maker have seen our clip for You Are The One& reworked the concept a little bit and then straight up stolen and copied some bits…(ESPECIALLY THE END!).”

“Wouldn’t be the first time uncreative talentless f***s from big labels and/or big film firms steal ideas from small independent creatives who are trying really hard to make something different for a change.”

On the other hand, maybe its just jealousy? Apparently SAFIA released their musical video in September and have had 114,000 views at today’s date. Ariana’s musical video on the other hand received almost two million views in just under 24 hours and now stands at around 2.6 million.

However, looking at the videos and comparing color gradings of that sky, along with scenes of Grande running through the crowded and chaotic streets, ending with that final scene of her hugging a man, just seem so familiar when viewing SAFIA’s video.

Ariana’s director, Max Landis hit the Twittersphere with his own comments on the situation.

More recently Landis tweeted about an alternative idea he had offered Ariana for the video.

In an interview reported by Project U, Landis told SAFIA, “I’m a fan of your work too, your video KICKS ASS. It sucks that the last shot is so similar… but it’s also similar to a MILLION OTHER SHOTS framed exactly the same way from a million other things. I think the lesson is: Don’t publicly accuse people of creative theft.”

Ariana Grande’s “One Last Time” is included at the top of this article, and SAFIA’s “You are the One” is tucked below. Have a look and listen and see what you think.

In the meanwhile, the Inquisitr notes Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj gave a stunning performance at an NBA Halftime Show last weekend.
