Freddie Prinze Jr. voicing James Vega in Mass Effect 3

We’ve already been introduced to James Vega, Shepard’s new companion in Mass Effect 3, but we haven’t actually heard him yet. Now we can, thanks to a new video from BioWare that introduces us to the character and the voice actor that will be playing him: Freddie Prinze Jr.

In the video, Prinze gives us a rundown of his character in Mass Effect 3, and we get to see a few new story sequences involving Vega and Shepard, complete with in-game dialogue.

“The thing with James.. he’s a very no-nonsense marine”, he explains. “Some of the inspiration came from an actual army captain. He’s a very serious, very honest, very straight-forward soldier, and he puts emotions aside.

“He deals with things, but you see how soldiers are kind of forced to deal with things after the fact. They get punished with so much visual and physical information, be it bullets coming at them, dead bodies, blood. You know, all of the things that come with it, they have to process it at some time. What’s great about this game is that you get a couple opportunities to see how [the war has] affected James.”
