Match number 6 in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 is going to pit New Zealand against Scotland, and one squad is hoping to score an upset. For those that can’t be in Australia to enjoy the match, you’ll be able to catch all the action on the pitch by watching it streaming live online.
The BBC reported that Scotland knows they are the underdogs in this World Cup, but they are looking to surprise a lot of people. Scotland coach Grant Bradburn is not going in intending to lose.
“There’s 14 teams in this competition and we’re clearly ranked number 14,” former Kiwi international Bradburn told BBC Scotland.
“But we go to this World Cup intending to win some games and beat some top-tier nations.”
In their final two warm-up matches, Scotland did defeat Ireland and barely lost to West Indies, and those were positive signs. If they’re going to want to defeat other Pool A teams such as Australia, England, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan, then they’ve got to start with New Zealand.
“We’re fully expecting that we will be seen as the easy-beats and possibly the easy targets for a barrage of bumpers and perhaps some sledging,” he said.
“But our guys are experienced, skilled and mature enough to deal with that.”
New Zealand ended up beating Sri Lanka by 98 runs in their opening match this past Saturday to open the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. They looked extremely dominant and it’s going to be difficult for Scotland to get past them.
A report from ICC Cricket even said that New Zealand’s performance against Sri Lanka was about as close to perfect as you will likely ever see. This means a Scotland win would be even more impressive.
The match between New Zealand and Scotland is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. local time, and 22:00 GMT, on Tuesday, February 17. For those in the United States, it will stream live on Monday, February 16.
