Dakota Johnson: ‘I Didn’t Want To Get Hit With A Belt’
Dakota Johnson wasn’t willing to get down and dirty in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie. The actress used a butt double during the scene with Jamie Dornan when she gets spanked. Dakota confessed in a recent interview that she used a butt double during one of the film’s alleged kinkiest scenes.
Johnson spoke with the Daily Star about the scene, which heavily featured BDSM, according to Hollywood Life. The actress admitted that she doesn’t quite enjoy pain, which is why she opted out of the scene. The classic Fifty Shades scene shows Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) whipping Anastasia Steele’s (Dakota Johnson) butt with a belt.
“There was a close up of a bum getting hit with a belt. That was not my bum, because I didn’t want to get hit with a belt.”
This comes as a surprise to fans as Dakota signed up for the role of Anastasia. Some fans may think it’s respectful and cool that she used a body double in the erotic scene. Dakota has been showing off some serious skin though – both on and off screen.
Johnson had a hard time choosing her favorite sex scene in the film. But it’s not what you think. She revealed to Access Hollywood that she loved the scene when Ana loses her virginity to Christian.
“The virginity scene I think is something that is so beautiful. And the way that [cinematographer] Seamus [McGarvey] and [director] Sam [Taylor-Johnson] shot that scene – it’s really incredible. And the colors! It’s so saturated and then, just watching a really profound moment in a young girl’s life. I think that was pretty special to do.”
Dakota also didn’t take long to defend the controversy surrounding the Fifty Shades of Grey movie. The books and film have been said to glamorize violence against women, according to a recent report on the Inquisitr. Dakota addressed the negative responses to the Hollywood Reporter.
“I know that a lot of people, before seeing the movie, were thinking that maybe it’s promoting abuse and violence, but I think it’s actually doing the opposite.”
Johnson was quick to defend her character. She said that she didn’t see Ana as “weak” and “submissive” as critics have. Johnson added, “I really don’t think that [Anastasia’s] a weak, submissive victim. I think that she’s a strong woman who is fearlessly exploring herself emotionally and sexually.”
The Fifty Shades of Grey film is expected to break box office records this Valentine’s Day weekend. Dakota Johnson is obviously proud of the movie, and is fine with defending her character and using a butt double.
