Last-Minute Hotel Deals For Valentine’s Day, Winter Getaways

Last-minute holiday deals are running rampant this Valentine’s Day weekend. It’s been a tough winter in the Northeast with the never-ending snow and arctic temperatures. If you’ve been staying inside your home waiting for the spring thaw, you’ll probably suffering from cabin fever and wanting to plan a winter getaway. Traci Suppa, founder of the family travel blog, Go Big or Go Home, says that there are plenty of things to do this winter.

“There is always something to do in the Hudson Valley and it’s really easy to overlook what’s in your own backyard. You can tour West Point, ice-skate at Bear Mountain or spend the night in a haunted inn. If you haven’t already, visit DIA:Beacon and the New York State Museum.”

If you’re looking for last-minute holiday deals, Lori Wall, an independent travel agent with Destinations to Explore in Hyde Parks says hotels have specials when they are not filled to capacity. If you don’t search for the deals, you won’t be able to go on your dream winter getaway.

“You never know when these last-minute deals are going to appear, so if you have your heart set on a date and a location then you should book early. If you are the type of person that can pick up and go when a last-minute deal pops up, and you have no traveling restrictions then, yes, you can get a last-minute deal.”

If you’re dreaming of warmer weather, look for deals on a beach getaway. Ultimate Fan Vacations has created an experience where NFL fans can enjoy a cruise with professional players and have question-and-answer sessions, barbecue and pool party, a yacht party and more.

The Sofitel New York is also offering a Winter Weekend Getaway package that includes an overnight stay in a Queen room, breakfast for two at Gaby Brasserie Francaise, and ice-skating passes to the Rockefeller Center. If you want to stay indoors, you can opt for the Chatwal, a Luxury Collection Hotel and the Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa for overnight stays through Feb. 28.

Maybe you want to look for last-minute deals closer to home. There are smartphone apps that will allow you to do just that. Hotel Tonight and Stayful can help you get a last-minute hotel room at a lower rate than you would find on the hotel’s website. Stayful allows users you to bid on boutique hotel rooms and negotiate a rate.

Hotel Tonight has “Lust More” rooms that include suites, penthouses and private villas. Each Lust More room comes with a floral arrangement from BloomNation (valued over $300) and a guaranteed “hard to get” dinner reservation, according to Techlicious.
