Jodie Sweetin of Full House Turns 30, Says Sobriety Issues Are in the Past

Get ready to feel super old… Jodie Sweetin- the girl who played middle child Stephanie on Full House– is now 30 years old.

Sweetin appeared alongside the Olsen twins, Bob Saget, Candace Cameron, Jon Stamos and Dave Coulier on the family-friendly sitcom- but like many other 80’s child actors, she experienced some intense struggles with partying, sobriety and the pressures of being a kid star. While Mary-Kate and Ashley went on to become fashion mavens, Sweetin developed some addictions to hard drugs and struggled to overcome her dependencies.

In 2007, Sweetin married Cody Herpin (she was previously married to LAPD officer Shaun Holguin in 2002, and the pair divorced in 2006), and the couple had a baby girl in July of 2008. Their daughter Zoie arrived in April, but by November the couple filed for legal separation, and the divorce became contentious. Sweetin alleged her husband at the time “kept finding one excuse after another for his failure to even attempt to find employment,” and eventually, her access to Zoie was restricted after Herpin expressed doubts in court about her continued sobriety.

After her split with Herpin, Sweetin began dating DJ Morty Coyle. Her divorce from Herpin was finalized in April of 2010, and Coyle and Sweetin announced in May of that year that they were expecting a baby girl. Beatrix Carlin Sweetin Coyle was born in August of 2010, and at Sweetin’s birthday party last year, Coyle proposed to the former child star. However, Sweetin says, the couple plans to take wedding planning slowly, citing lack of support for gay marriage as an impediment to their straight one. She told Access Hollywood:

“We’re big supporters of marriage equality… So until everybody has the right to do this, we’re gonna hold off on [getting married].”

Do you admire Sweetin’s commitment to battling her demons?
