Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Coming Soon: Watch Out, Apple

Microsoft’s Surface Pro 3 has been a huge success that has redefined the tablet/laptop hybrid. As Microsoft has lowered the price for the Surface Pro 3, many are predicting the Surface Pro 4 is right around the corner. TheAir Herald is one of the sites that is predicting a new Surface Pro 4 arriving very soon.

“The Surface Pro 4 may be coming out sooner than many people initially thought. While Microsoft has yet to say anything about the new device, they have given some indication that they are getting ready to release the device. Microsoft has been dropping the Surface Pro 3 line by $100 nearly across the board. Many people are wondering what Microsoft will do with the Surface Pro 4. The current rumors say that Microsoft will release two different form factors this time around.”

It also looks like the Surface Pro Mini, which was cancelled last year, might also see the light of day. According to International Business Times, the Surface Pro Mini may be larger than consumers originally expected.

“The Surface Pro Mini is expected to feature an 8-inch or 10.1-inch display. Microsoft was speculated to be working on launching a smaller edition of Surface slate since 2012 but it was reportedly cancelled. “

The Surface Pro 4 is expected to directly compete with Apple’s upcoming 12-inch MacBook Air, which many believe will have a Retina display. MacRumors has recently revealed what we can expect for the much-hyped device.

“Apple is rumored to be working on a 12-inch MacBook that’s even thinner than the MacBook Air, with a fanless design that takes advantage of an Intel Core M processor, a Retina display, and a revamped buttonless trackpad. Along with a revamped clamshell design that’s thinner than any MacBook Apple has produced thus far, the new 12-inch machine is rumored to include a high resolution Retina display that offers the outstanding visual experience of the Retina MacBook Pro.”

Microsoft is definitely on the comeback trail, and it all started with the successful Surface Pro 3, released in June of 2014. Their upcoming operating system, Windows 10, has so far received favorable reviews. Microsoft is also set to release their HoloLens holographic glasses, a first of its kind from any company.

Microsoft’s comeback is desperately needed, especially with the failure of Windows 8, which many believe did the company just as much harm as Windows Vista did in 2007. The release of the Surface Pro 4 should be soon, and the device will hopefully be another game changer.
