Resident Evil 6 announced, coming this November to PS3, Xbox 360

Following an outing by IGN earlier today, Capcom has come out and officially announced that Resident Evil 6 is in the works, and it’s set for release at the end of this year.

Resident Evil 6 will see the return of Resident Evil veterans Leon Kennedy and Chris Redfield, who will meet up with an all-new cast of characters throughout their adventures in the U.S. and China, respectively.

To go along with the announcement, Capcom released a surprisingly lengthy trailer with plenty of story and action sequences from the perspective of both characters. Before you dive into that, however, see below for a synopsis of the game’s plot to make sense of all the chaos.

It has been ten years since the Raccoon City incident and the President of the United States has decided to reveal the truth behind what took place in the belief that it will curb the current resurgence in bioterrorist activity. Due to be by the President’s side is his personal friend and Raccoon City survivor, Leon S. Kennedy, but when the venue suffers a bioterrorist attack, Leon is forced to face a President transformed beyond recognition and make his hardest ever decision.

At the same time, Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance member Chris Redfield arrives in China, itself under threat of a bioterrorist attack. With no country safe from these attacks and the ensuing outbreaks, the entire world’s population is united by a common fear that there is no hope left.

Resident Evil 6 is set for release on November 20 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, with a PC version to follow later. Check out the debut trailer below.
