Could ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ and ‘Star Wars: Battlefront’ Stories Link?

Could the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie and Star Wars: Battlefront be related? A new rumor suggests the stories might link in the Star Wars canon.

In a post on Making Star Wars, a list of fresh rumors was published, specifically showing how The Force Awakens and EA’s Battlefront reboot could be linked. Apparently, according to the post, Battlefront could span the whole Star Wars saga, which would then include The Force Awakens.

Some other highlights from the list include:

  • Star Wars Battlefront will feature segments in which players play as both the good guys (Old Republic, Rebellion and Republic) and bad guys (Separatists and the Empire). It was specifically stated that that will be a small portion of prequel trilogy content. players will participate in a couple of battles from the Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and the space battle above Corsucant from the beginning of Revenge of the Sith.
  • There will be some segments of the campaign which take place between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. There won’t be a lot because, in their words, “Lucasfilm has a lot of plans for that era.”
  • The last section of the campaign takes place before and during the opening segments of The Force Awakens. Don’t expect anything too revealing, because the game is expected to ship about a month before the movie releases.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens releases in theaters December 18, so if the rumor is true, Battlefront would release in November. This would give EA a game to combat normal November heavy-weight Call of Duty for sales, which would corroborate a report by EA, as relayed byInquisitr. Star Wars: Battlefront is also rumored to include the new X-Wing and TIE Fighters, first revealed in The Force Awakens.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens takes place after the events of Return of the Jedi. Set 30 years after the fall of The Emperor and Lord Vader. The J.J. Abrams-directed film will introduce new characters to the series, but The Force Awakens will also bring back old favorites such as Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, and Han Solo.

Speculation has been swirling around The Force Awakens since the “lightsaber cross-guard” arguments started coming out with the teaser trailer. According to the rumors, some of the characters in The Force Awakens will be playable in Battlefront. Maybe this means Luke Skywalker’s son?

Whatever comes of these rumors, Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Battlefront seem to be intertwined. Look for more information this June at E3.
