Kanye West Rejects AMA Award: Rare Video, Other Jaw-Dropping Award Show Rants Resurface Amid Grammy Debacle [Videos]

Kanye West definitely makes his presence known at award shows. Fans will always know Mr. West is in the building because he’s never had a problem sounding off when he feels he, or anyone else, has been snubbed. In wake of his recent rant over Beck’s “Album of the Year” Grammy win, other jaw-dropping award show moments have resurfaced on social media.

One rare video in particular has been re-uploaded and shared on World Star Hip Hop. The video has received more than 900,000 views and 22,000 shares over the past couple days. However, it actually isn’t a typical “Kanye West moment.” Surprisingly, the rare video shows a different Kanye.

The one-minute clip starts with a humble Kanye West receiving a 2008 American Music Award for Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist award. Although Kanye normally plays to win, he made a shocking admission during his speech. He expressed how he didn’t feel he deserved the award because it was Lil’ Wayne’s year of success.

For those who don’t know, Lil’ Wayne released Tha Carter III that year. So, it’s definitely understandable why Kanye would say he didn’t deserve the award. The highly lauded album, which featured monumental hits like “A Milli” and “Got Money,” is still considered one of the best works of Wayne’s career. Although Kanye produced two tracks on the certified triple-platinum masterpiece, he made it clear that Wayne deserved the award. However, that rare moment is quite different from Kanye’s more recent attempts at sharing his opinion.

However, he hasn’t always felt undeserving. There have also been other award show moments where he’s felt snubbed. Needless to say, he had no reservations about voicing his “concerns.” Although the Yeezus rapper’s recent comments toward Beck and his 2009 Taylor Swift rant have garnered lots of attention, there have actually been other rare moments where his mounting levels of frustration have been worse.

His infamous, jaw-dropping backstage rant at the 2007 Video Music Awards also left many fans bemused. Apparently, he lost an award to the Black Eyed Peas and he definitely was not a happy camper. He explained how he’d lost two years in a row, but couldn’t understand why since he currently had the chart-topping record. But, that’s definitely not all he had to say.

Here’s another comical video clip chronicling five more of Kanye’s most infamous rants:

Of course, no one ever expects a statement from Mr. West. The unapologetic rapper makes it quite clear that he means what he says. But, a recent report suggests Grammy officials have allegedly figured out a way to avoid the awkward “Kanye West moments.” As previously reported on Inquisitr, it has been rumored that the Watch The Throne rapper has been banned from the Grammy’s. However, the speculation has yet to be confirmed or denied.
