President’s Day 2015 is right around the corner as it falls this year on Monday, February 16, and there are some things you need to know. The federal holiday is important and that means numerous businesses will be closing in observance of it. With that, businesses, stores, banks, and other things will keep doors locked on President’s Day.

Federal employees need to check with their bosses to be sure, but there’s a good chance you will have a day off on Monday.

If you’re planning on being out to run errands and all of that, you’ve got to know some information before being caught off-guard. Here is all you will need to know about President’s Day 2015 as to what is closed and what’s open.

Will the United States Post Office be open and delivering?

There will not be any mail delivered on President’s Day so no need to head out to the mailbox. USPS has a list of all postal holidays for 2015 and those that you won’t be able to head into offices or receive mail.

Are UPS and FedEx delivering and open on Monday?

Yes, both will be open and delivering on President’s Day 2015. UPS and FedEx both recognize the holiday, but they do not observe it which means they’re keeping their doors open and trucks running.

What federal and state offices are going to be open on President’s Day 2015?

Not a single one of them. That’s right, don’t head out to get your license renewed at the DMV or head to city hall for some new paperwork. Those employees will have the day off and you’ll have to take care of business on Tuesday.

Are any banks open at all?

While some people may say that certain branches of banks are open, they aren’t. As the Holiday Schedule states, banks do observe and recognize President’s Day (Washington’s Birthday) as a holiday and will be closed.

Is the stock market open and operating?

No, it will be closed and not going on Monday. The Street has a full list of all holidays observed by the stock market so be sure to familiarize yourself with them all.

Will malls, retails stores, and restaurants be open on President’s Day 2015?

President’s Day is actually one of the days to get some of the best sales of the year. Be sure to check out Walmart, Macy’s, Kohl’s, Best Buy, Kmart and so many other stores for some great bargains and huge savings. Many sales will run the full weekend so get your deals in while you can.

President’s Day 2015 is only one day of the year, but you’ve got to be fully aware of all that is going on. Some of the sales will last all weekend and Monday will see a lot of offices closed and not reopening until Tuesday so prepare your weekly schedule accordingly.
