London will be at the epicenter tonight as Hollywood’s biggest stars take the British capital by storm in one final bid for the-all important Academy Awards on February 22. The live footage will be broadcast directly from the Royal Opera House.
Stars will be born, become household names, and be much sought-after by major American studios and directors after tonight. So who will come out one top?
We have no idea, but the competition is fierce with names such as Keira Knightley, Benedict Cumberbatch, Eddie Redmayne, Reese Witherspoon, and Rosamund Pike battling for top honors. The nominees will thrill fans as they walk the red carpet and get ready to see who will win in the major categories.
If you watch the BAFTA awards 2015 live online, you will see whether The Grand Budapest Hotel, which is nominated for the most BAFTAs, is able to walk out a winner. However, there are many popular actors who are on the verge of becoming international superstars.
Such is the case for Eddie Redmayne, who plays physicist Stephen Hawking who, at 21, was diagnosed motor neuron disease. The magnificent performance has already earned the British actor a Golden Globe award, for which he beat out his buddy, Benedict Cumberbatch. The Sherlock star is also nominated for The Imitation Game and Michael Keaton for Birdman.
As for the ladies, all eyes will be on Julianne Moore (Still Alice) as she battles it out for the Best Leading Actress award with Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl), Reese Witherspoon (Wild), Amy Adams, and Felicity Jones.
The EE British Academy Film Awards serve as a precursor for the biggest night of them all: the Oscars. Voting for the Academy Award nomination closes in the upcoming week, and the members may take a second look at some performances while dismissing others as they tick the boxes for their favorites.
Mixing in with all the posh Hollywood stars are the royals, Prince William, president of BAFTA, and his very pregnant wife, Duchess Kate Middleton, who hosted many of the biggest names in the business at a pre-BAFTA party. The likes of Reese Witherspoon, Cumberbatch, Redmayne, and others rubbed shoulders with the royal couple at Kensington Palace.
