Having “This bike is a pipe bomb” on your bike at an airport: not a great idea
Anyone who lives in the United States, or has visited it knows how tight security can be. Smart people would also know that you don’t make jokes about bombs or hijacking a plane either, no matter what the context.
So having a sticker on your bike at an airport that reads “this bike is a pipe bomb” wouldn’t be a great idea.
Someone who parked their bike at the Memphis airport Monday night did though, and guess what happened next.
According to CNN, a pilot alerted airport police when he saw a bike with the sticker parked near the passenger ramps of Terminal C at Memphis International Airport. The entire terminal was evacuated, and a K-9 unit responded, finding no explosive materials at the scene.
“This Bike is a Pipe Bomb” is the name of a Florida band, and their bumper stickers are an Al-Qaeda terror cell in their own right. Previous sitings of the sticker have closed college campuses, resulted in arrests, and even bikes being blown up by bomb squads.
The owner of the bike was arrested but later released when police found he had committed no crime.
