Angel Di Maria To Leave Manchester United Following Burglary?

Angel Di Maria is reportedly considering leaving Manchester United after his house was burgled.

The Argentinian winger’s abode was almost broken into last week. Di Maria is believed to have been severely shaken up by the incident, which occurred while he was at home with his family eating dinner.

According to the Mirror, Di Maria’s wife is so distraught and traumatised by the incident that she has refused to return to their house with their 21-month-old daughter, and has instead remained in a hotel.

This has led to rumors that Manchester United’s manager, Louis Van Gaal, is worried about the player’s long-term future with the club. In fact the Dutch coach said just that during a recent press conference.

When asked if he was concerned about Di Maria’s happiness in Manchester and whether his on-field form could be affected, Van Gaal responded.

“Yes, yes, you are right. You are right in your analysis. I believe in the ‘total human-being’ principle. So his environment is also important.”

Van Gaal explained that after the incident Di Maria wanted to play to get over it.

“But, nevertheless, he was worried about his wife and child, I have spoken with him,” Van Gaal noted, “and he wanted to play against Cambridge United and I played him.”

Van Gaal revealed that Di Maria actually convinced him to allow him to play in the encounter.

“I have decided in the past that I will never play a player in those circumstances, because of the total human-being principle. But, with him, I had the feeling that I had to give him a chance to play and I was very happy that I let him play. He played very well,” Van Gaal declared.

The Manchester United manager revealed that he will have to decide whether to play Di Maria for Sunday’s match against West Ham.

Angel Di Maria is the most expensive player in British soccer history. Manchester United paid £59.7 million, which is the equivalent of $100 million, to Real Madrid for the winger, who was regarded as one of the best players in the world last year. They had to fight off Paris Saint Germain to secure the talents of the player, after the French side admitted their interest in purchasing Di Maria too.

The Daily Star, via the Bleacher Report, have teased that Paris Saint Germain are interested in selling Edison Cavani and Ezequiel Lavezzi to raise the funds to acquire Di Maria from England.
