John Elway Talks About Tim Tebow Moving Forward As Denver Broncos Starting Quarterback

Tim Tebow was an unlikely hero when he took over the QB1 position for the Denver Bronco’s this season, helping his team reach the second round of the NFL playoffs after knocking out the Pittsburgh Steelers. It’s for that reason that Tebow has been named the teams starting Quarterback for 2012.

Broncos boss John Elway said of Tebow:

”Well, I think Tim’s earned the right to be the starting quarterback going into training camp next year.”

”I think he made some good strides this year,” Elway said. ”He obviously played very well against Pittsburgh and played very well in a lot of football games.”

Elway joined the team last year as the chief of football operations and he has now pledged to personally work with Tim Tebow during the offseason to improve his passing game and make him a more well rounded quarterback.

According to John Elway he wants to ”help Tim in every way I can, to be able to improve through what I learned.”

Tim Tebow appears ready to improve his game in the off-season, stating that his goal is to “work pretty hard and try to get a lot better.”

Elway revealed in his 40-minute press conference that he wants to make Tebow a pocket passer, something he learned late in his career wins championships.

”Hopefully, I can teach him what I learned over my 16-year career,” Elway said, ”to be able to tell him what I learned in Year 10, hopefully get that to him in year 3 or 4.”

When Tebow joined the Denver Broncos as the starting quarterback the team was 1-4 in October, however under his dramatic come from behind wins he was able to steers the team to its first playoff berth since 2005 by going 8-5 with five second-half comebacks.

In the meantime Tebow’s inexperience rang through during his teams loss to the New England Patriots. Tebow’s 34 percent completion percentage is the worse in a playoff game since 1998.

John Elway revealed that the team also plans to possibly add a quarterback or two during the offseason:

”Well, right now as we look at it, we’ve got two quarterbacks under contract,” Elway said, noting that practice squad QB Adam Weber signed a futures contract. ”So, we’ve obviously got to be in the market to find some more quarterbacks.”

Do you think Tim Tebow is the right starting quarterback choice for the Denver Broncos?
