Viral Ads Make People Want To Catch The Bus [Videos]


Watch a man throw a Molotov cocktail under his luxury car as he runs to catch the bus. This is the theme of the latest fun commercial by a Danish transport company.

Most people would think that public transport is a pretty boring subject and that creating advertising to make people catch the bus would be fairly difficult. A Danish company, Midttrafik has proved this theory wrong by releasing fun and original commercials about their line of public buses. The first was released in 2012 and now the sequel is online in 2015.

In 2012, Midttrafik, based in the region of Midtjylland in Denmark, asked Midttrafik Kommunikation, Thomas Falkenberg and M2Film to come up with a brand new and original commercial and come up with one they did, in the form of an epic movie trailer.

Titled “The Bus”, in the video (included below) we see hordes of people, fighting for the right to board this magnificent new vehicle. As they catch the bus, they exclaim with joy over the comfortable seats and the panoramic views from the gigantic windows. They zoom past slower cars, halted in the traffic, as they head down their dedicated bus lane.

The ad gives us the idea that the bus driver is “cool” and that all the passengers are having a wonderful time. As for the bus, “Yeah, it is street.” Despite being about that relatively mundane subject, public transport, that video has seen over one million views.

Fast forward to early 2015 and the company has now released yet another fun commercial, dubbed “The Sequel.” In the latest epic, the world’s coolest bus is back. We learn about “The Passenger,” a guy that’s cool, with a New York hairstyle, wearing the best outlet sneakers (with double knots) and an old-school windbreaker. He’s popular at work and the women go wild over him. He has a choice to make over two different buses, but when he chooses, everyone cheers. This is an extract from the fantastic life of “The Passenger.”

Catching the bus

Throughout the video we see an older guy, who is apparently bored with having to drive his own car and who is jealous of “The Passenger.” In closing, the man lights a Molotov cocktail and throws it under his car, then runs like crazy to catch the bus.

The new video was uploaded to YouTube on January 30, 2015 and has already received 58,000 views at today’s date.

The second video was produced for Midttrafik by a Danish Production Company, M2Film. While in the Danish language, the videos have English sub-titles and make for fun and enjoyable viewing. Should you visit Denmark, would you catch the bus after watching these Midttrafik ads?
