Madonna Follows Mariah Carey In Hiring Rent-A-Rappers For Hits

Madonna’s Rebel Heart album has leaked in low quality (the finished songs this time) and with the exception of some “What were you thinking?” moments, most listeners find the album to be her best in ten years. Music listeners have been praising the Queen of Pop on Twitter.

Madonna seems to have followed Mariah Carey‘s footsteps in going through the Rent-A-Rapper catalog to help her songs become hits. Mariah Carey literally invented the Rent-A-Rapper craze in the mid-1990s. Then, other pop stars such as Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera followed. Madonna has used rappers before on her albums, but this time decided to double up. One of the Rebel Heart songs, “Veni Vidi Vici,” features the rapper Nas, according to E News.

“Now, the 56-year-old is ready to climb the charts yet again with her new track featuring Nas. Titled ‘Veni Vidi Vici,’ the song features the singer reflecting on some of her most memorable moments both on and off the stage. For what it’s worth, we’re totally feeling this new track. In fact, we can’t wait for the full album coming March 10.”

On paper, Madonna’s “Veni Vidi Vici” looks like a train wreck. In reality, the track actually works. Even the commenters on HotNewHipHop, who are usually harsh towards Madonna, like the song. One commenter who calls himself “Osyris” summarized what others thought.

“This s**t is bangin. Nas can do no wrong.. (Except for Nastradamus). That’s why he’s the greatest ever. Madonna always gon be a legend too, she always gon be the Queen of pop no matter what anyone say.”

It’s quite likely that Madonna and her management may consider “Veni Vidi Vici” as a single now that it has been well-received. But that’s not the only rapper Madonna hired for Rebel Heart. Chance the Rapper is co-starring on the robotic “Iconic,” which also features Mike Tyson giving a speech. Stereogum has mixed feelings about “Iconic.”

“‘Iconic’ is at best a song about taking control of your life and letting your inner fire burn, at worst it’s a re-working of Katy Perry’s ‘Firework’ with all of the added benefits that come with including a cameo by Chance The Rapper.”

Several fan sites have also speculated that Madonna has hired Drake to rap in the final version of “Best Night,” one of four very sexual tracks on Rebel Heart. The album also features Nicki Minaj. What do you think of Madonna’s new music? Tell us in the Comments section.
