Marvel’s ‘Daredevil’ Netflix Series Gets A Dark And Satisfying Trailer [VIDEO]

While DC is hard at work getting its shared cinematic universe off the ground, Marvel already has its pieces spread all across the board. From its main line of films, to Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter on television, and now their Netflix series (which will include series from Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist), Marvel’s tri-fecta across all possible mediums seems nearly complete.

To top it all off, Marvel’s Cinematic Universe runs across all mediums, which is a huge undertaking (DC opted to go for a cinematic universe and separate television universes, depending on the series). But the huge question mark at this point seems to be Marvel’s Netflix properties. What exactly will the tone for these be, and more importantly, will they get it right? With the recent release of the trailer for their new series, Daredevil, at least one of those questions is answered. If you haven’t seen the teaser yet, be sure to check it out above.

It only takes one look at Daredevil teaser to realize the different things they are trying to achieve in their Netflix series. While The Avengers are out saving the world against intergalactic threats like Loki and Thanos, these other Netflix properties are vigilantes at a street level. A better picture could not have been painted. Marvel Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada had made this point several months back, but seeing it on screen really reinforces the whole thing (via Collider).

“Although these are superhero stories, this is different now. This is the street level…this is the street level noir side of the Marvel Universe. Something that you haven’t really, really seen in any of our Marvel movies. And probably more ground level, than I think you’ve seen. This is not like us doing Batman, Dark Knight or any of that stuff. This is very Marvel doing street level superheroes.”

Needless to say, with the new Daredevil Netflix series, they have indeed reached the “street level noir side of the Marvel Universe.”

The official synopsis for Daredevil is below (via Screen Rant).

“Marvel’s Daredevil is a live action series that follows the journey of attorney Matt Murdock, who in a tragic accident was blinded as a boy but imbued with extraordinary senses. Murdock sets up practice in his old neighborhood of Hell’s Kitchen, New York where he now fights against injustice as a respected lawyer by day and masked vigilante at night.

Does the new trailer have you excited for Daredevil and the Netflix series to come from Marvel, or do you prefer the more lighthearted tone of the films?
