Johnny Depp’s $3.6M Private Island Doubles With Ceremony

Nearly a year after Johnny Depp’s star-studded engagement party attended by the likes of Marilyn Manson and Steven Tyler, the actor is rumored to wed long-time girlfriend Amber Heard. The couple’s tumultuous relationship will be official this weekend, when approximately 50 guests will join the two on Depp’s private Bahamian island, Page Six reports.

Purchased for $3.6 million in 2004, Depp’s 45-acre island, called Little Halls Pond Cay, is the perfect setting for a wedding ceremony, though getting married was not on the actor’s mind when the island was purchased. An exclusive interview with Vanity Fair in 2009 revealed Depp’s reasoning behind the acquisition: “It’s instant freedom.”

Only accessible by seaplane or boat, the island is extremely private and, according to Depp, was the primary reason behind the purchase. As Forbes confirmed, Depp’s Little Halls Pond Cay is part of the Exumas, contains six beaches, and is affectionately referred to as “F*** Off Island” by Depp, who enjoys each voyage to the island’s pristine beaches.

Believed to be Johnny Depp’s favorite place to get away from it all, the island is peppered with the actor’s fondest memories. Each of the six white sand beaches are named after someone significant to Depp, including his former spouse, French artist and actress Vanessa Paradis, his two children, Hunter S. Thompson, and Marlon Brando.

It’s unclear who, if anyone, put together Depp and Heard’s private ceremony and reception. As Inquisitr reported last year, Depp was forced to wear Heard’s engagement ring as it was too large for the actress’s finger. After pointing out why he was wearing the very feminine engagement ring, Depp added, “I think that I would be better at making women’s shoes than I would be at wedding planning, I can’t plan anything.”

Amber Heard, whose acting career began with Friday Night Lights, is known for her roles in Zombieland and The Rum Diary, the latter of which served as the setting for introduction to Johnny Depp. Although both were in committed relationships while filming The Rum Diary, the two started a relationship nearly two years later. Despite lukewarm periods in their relationship, as noted by People, the bond between Depp and Heard has been solidified since they begun dating in 2012.

Set to be his second marriage, Johnny Depp’s upcoming wedding will be an intimate affair with close friends and family. The reception following the ceremony will take place on the actor’s 156-foot yacht, Vajoliroja, which features plush indoor and outdoor seating, luxurious dining, and a master suite fit for a king.
