Jeff Fisher continues to behave like a big teasing floosie, taking his good time to choose his next career move: head coach at St. Louis Rams or the Miami Dolphins?

Earlier this week, reports suggested Fisher would have decided on his future by Wednesday. Alas, Wednesday came and went, and the silence from the Fisher camp was deafening. It’s not an easy decision of course, with a web of different factors to be considered. Miami has more cash, the Rams may yet move, and Fisher will want final say over team selection (remember the Bud Adams/Vince Young debacle at Tennessee?)

As for the teams themselves, well, the Rams undoubtedly need him more, but then there are rumblings from some columnists that Fisher isn’t all that great anyway. Why, ask some pundits, are both teams being so polite and patient? Over at Naples News, David Moulton argues:

“When did Jeff Fisher become Bill Cowher? Fisher is a good head coach. The Miami Dolphins are going after him as if he were a great coach. He’s not. He would be a good, solid choice but he is not the equivalent of Pat Riley coming to the Miami Heat.”

There are hints that the Rams may be looking beyond Fisher. Sources at the club say Carolina offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski and New Orleans offensive line and running game coach Aaron Kromer are now on the shortlist. Miami continues to be besotted, however – some reports suggest Miami owner Stephen Ross has offered Fisher a multi-year contract worth about $8 million a year.

Do you think Fisher is worth the wait, Dolphins/Rams fans? Why not snap up Eric Mangini from the NFL coaching carousel instead? Or hell, Marty Schottenheimer? The guy is old, sure, but he’s got the record.
