WWE News: Roman Reigns Makes Controversial Statements In Recent Interview

Roman Reigns is on top of the WWE Universe. Whether the fans agree with it or not, everyone is talking about the latest man to win the Royal Rumble match. People in Philadelphia expressed their displeasure with the decision to have him face Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 31. At this point, its Reigns’ spot to lose at WWE’s biggest event. In this writer’s opinion, he’s about to lose it.

It wasn’t enough that the WWE Universe continues to “boo” Roman Reigns out of every building he steps foot in, but the WWE won’t let him cut his own promos. WWE reportedly fed him lines during the Raw from Stamford, Connecticut, last week. On top of that, Triple H is changing the WWE to its core, which might be caused from Reigns’ over-confidence in himself.

Roman Reigns spoke to radio host Sam Roberts before the Royal Rumble pay-per-view and addressed the fact that he’s getting “pushed down everyone’s throats” as the company’s next big guy. First, he talked about how he doesn’t care what the fans think because they never cut a promo and never stepped foot inside the squared circle.

“I’m aware of all of these things. You have to look at it through many different perspectives. For me, as a provider and as a man, I have a responsibility to provide. I can’t look at it like and get down on ‘oh, this is what they’re thinking and this is what they’re saying.’ To be honest I really don’t care. I can only do my thing and do the best that I can. The majority of critics, I would say, are people who have no clue what they’re talking about and have never been in a wrestling ring. They’ve never been a public speaker. They wouldn’t even know how to lock up with me if I allowed them to. If I gave them the opportunity to lock up and tangle with me in the ring, they would have no clue what to do so for them to critique or ever say anything about any performer is asinine and just blows my mind.”

That’s just the beginning of Roman Reigns acting very blunt during his interview with Roberts. This is where it gets very interesting. The WWE’s #1 contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship then told Roberts what he’s really doing at the end of the day.

“It’s one of those situations where obviously the company is gonna do what the company does and the fans are definitely gonna do what they do. That’s what’s so great. The fans have to realize that as opinionated as y’all are in the way you want it, the company is the same way and they’re gonna do what they wanna do… at the end of the day I’m just a guy getting rich.”

If you think that Reigns couldn’t be more controversial, he talked about the fact that he is getting criticized every week regarding his in-ring work and the inability to cut great promos.

“The majority of the time… the people that are critiquing and bashing me, they’re making me more relevant, I would think. If you didn’t want me around then just don’t talk about me and try and make it silent out there. That’s not the case [because] they make it even more overwhelming. You know, noise is noise. That’s the thing.”

It seems that Roman Reigns is just concerned with himself when he goes to sleep at night. In the business of professional wrestling, that is a very hard thing to do. A WWE superstar’s job is to entertain the masses every single day of their lives.

When Steve Austin said that Reigns isn’t ready, perhaps that’s a logical theory. The WWE is about to change everything and WrestleMania 31 could be the target of change. Here’s the quandary Reigns is in: He might be the focal point of that change.
