Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino admitted on the Live! With Kelly show that the MTV reality show Jersey Shore is staged.

The Situation came on the show where he was seated next to guest host Boomer Esiason, who actually felt up the Situation’s abs before they got to talking.

The topic turned to the show and Kelly asked the Situation if his abs were insured?   He replied that he actually had talked with an insurance company.

The Situation said,

“I had to tell them that whatever they see on TV was a little, uh, ya know …”

“Staged!” Kelly Ripa kind of screamed.

“Yeah,” he replied.

He then got really wild eyed and insisted he was joking.  At the time Kelly looked ready to go at him with a followup Boomer interjected with a reference to all the hair gel he was wearing.

There has been a lot of talk in the past about how staged the show actually is.  In Italy, during season 4, there was a bar room brawl between Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Deena.  there were many different rumors that the fight had been staged by the producers.  There was even evidence of it all over the blogosphere.

There was also a fight between the Situation and Ronnie.  The fight even looked like it was intended for a TV audience and not spontaneous.

Regardless, this is the closest any cast member has come to confirming that the show is staged.  I am sure the Situation has it in his contract that he is not allowed to divulge whether it is staged or not.  I hope for his sake it is all ok.
