Samsung Galaxy S6: New Smartphone Design, Dimensions, And Release Date Leaked

Samsung hasn’t released live images of the Galaxy S6, but there have been numerous leaks about its possible dimensions and port layout. Since case manufacturers like Spigen have already been leaking information about the Galaxy S6, it’s pretty easy for users to get an accurate picture of the smartphone in their heads. After two leaks on Wednesday and Tuesday, Galaxy S6 lovers are seeing drawings that detail the dimensions of the future headset.

Case manufacturers already have the drawings of the Galaxy S6 prior to launch. The drawings show that the handset will be manageable for one-hand use, according to GSM Arena. The Galaxy S6 case inner dimensions are 143.5 x 70.7 x 7.2 mm, which are identical to the Galaxy S5’s 142 x 72.5 x 8.1mm. The Galaxy S6 dimensions also reveal a larger camera and sensor cluster as well as a change of the layout. The bottom cutout leaves room for a microphone, USB port, and speaker, which was on the back of the Galaxy S5.

Spigen is showing the images of the Galaxy S6 cases with the reported device inside. This has made it increasingly difficult for smartphone and tablet manufacturers to keep their upcoming devices under wraps ahead of an official announcement. The Spigen Air Cushion Bumper Galaxy S6 case, along with a few other new designs, has been listed on Amazon, according to TechTimes. The image shows a device that appears to be for the Galaxy S6’s aluminum frame and front and rear glass panel. It also shows that the camera placement is different from the Galaxy S5 since it has a LED flash and heart rate monitor on the side of the camera and not below it.

This isn’t the first time that Spigen has revealed a design prior to its official launch. It also advertised cases for the HTC One M8, LG G3, and Nexus 5 right before the manufacturers got ready to release the devices to the world.

Something else to note from Spigen’s listing of Galaxy S6 cases on Amazon shows the “in stock” date is for April 13. Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge on March 2, this availability date could be a possible release date. Along with the Galaxy S6, Samsung is rumored to launch the Galaxy S6 mini, Galaxy S6 Active, and the Galaxy S6 Edge.

Little is known about the Galaxy S6 Edge, but it’s expected to close resemble the Galaxy S6. The phone will also run software similar to the Note Edge, but with additional features of its own. Users get to choose which side is the main edge panel whether they’re right or left handed. A new feature called Glance Lighting will light up the S6 Edge area when users receive phone calls or notifications when they turn it over. Users will also get to assign colors to their favorite contacts to they know who’s contacting them.

The alleged specs of the Samsung Galaxy S6 include an Exynos 7420 chipset with an octa-core CPU, a 5.2-inch display, 3GB of RAM, and a 20MPG camera. The device is expected to launch during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, according to GSM Arena.

Samsung may have also removed its “slow” and “unnecessary” TouchWiz software, according to a report on the Inquisitr. Many of the apps that Samsung pre-installs on its Galaxy devices may be moved to the Google Play Store instead, which means that users will have more space on a new device. If Samsung does away with this feature, it will make the Android system more desirable and optimized on the Galaxy S6 and similar Galaxy devices.
