Emma Watson Uses Twitter To Give Promising Advice
Emma Watson is ushering in her generation to be proactive about gender equality. Taking notes from the generations before her, the Perks of Being A Wallflower star is the new ambassador for the UN’s Women’s He For She campaign. Watson launched the campaign with several empowering speeches, and one memorable one back in September of 2014, and recently she took to Twitter to give out some pretty impressive advice.
Using a hands-on approach, Watson opened herself up to hearing from anyone who wanted to contact her, and offered up advice as an initiative for the He For She campaign. The advice session proved to make a powerful impact.
It even got the attention of director, writer, and actress Elizabeth Banks.
Thank you @ElizabethBanks! I think you’re a total boss! Xx

In a world where people use social media for hateful messages and general negativity, Watson promoted positivity. According to USA Today, during this session, the hashtag #HeForShe created 1.2 billion conversations and it became popular enough that the Twitter headquarters took notice and decided to paint the hashtag on their walls.

“I have realized that fighting for women’s rights has too often become synonymous with man-hating. If there is one thing I know for certain, it is that this has to stop.”

At another point, Watson went into the moment she decided she wanted to be part of the solution, rather than the problem.
“When at 15, my girlfriends started dropping out of their beloved sports teams, because they didn’t want to appear muscle-y, when at 18, my male friends were unable to express their feelings, I decided that I was a feminist.”
