Did Eddie Redmayne Stalk Jennifer Aniston? [Video]

Did Eddie Redmayne really stalk Jennifer Aniston? Absolutely. Over the last few months, Redmayne has been thrown into the race to the Oscars for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking, which means the actor has been getting nominations across the board for various award shows leading up to the big night. This put the Theory of Everything star in the perfect place to “stalk” Jennifer Aniston, since she’s been raking in nominations for her turn in the film Cake.

The 33-year-old actor sat down for an interview with Jimmy Kimmel Live! to explain the whirlwind experience. He told Kimmel he “feels like a kid in a candy store” when he considers the room of people he’s in front of these days, and said it’s always “endlessly exciting” as well as “completely surreal.”

Redmayne, who’s a newlywed, explained that he went out of his way to meet Jennifer Aniston. Basically, he and his wife acted like adorable fangirls.

“My wife and I love Friends. We saw Jennifer Aniston at a party, and we were just incredibly inappropriate. We so wanted to meet her that we just sort of literally stalked about four meters behind her for an entire evening.”

The actor’s stalking paid off, and the excited couple got to meet the Friends star.

“Eventually, she was sort of like, ‘OK?’ and we got to meet her.”

Another celebrity encounter that Eddie was excited about was getting a chance to meet Julia Roberts at the Screen Actors Guild awards.

“My dad’s favorite film is Pretty Woman, so I think as a kid, at a pretty inappropriate age, I was watching Pretty Woman… So, this moment happens when your name gets read out and it’s such an extraordinary euphoria and it’s kind of white noise and it all kind of goes into a blur, and then suddenly, there I was sort of hugging Julia Roberts, and then I was meant to be articulate. All I could think of was, ‘I want to tell my dad!'”

Unfortunately, Eddie Redmayne won’t get to stalk Jennifer Aniston at the Academy Awards. The actress was famously snubbed. Earlier in the season, no one saw her performance in Cake coming, but that changed when she started getting attention from award shows like the Critics Choice Awards and the Golden Globes. By the time January rolled around, everyone thought she was a shoe-in, but the Academy left her off their short list.
