‘X-Men’ Coming To Fox As A TV Series?

Is X-Men heading to network television? According to TVInsider, Fox is looking to bring a live-action version of X-Men to the small screen.

Fox’s Gary Newman told TVInsider that they are considering bringing a potential series over to the network, and that “It’s in negotiations.” Newman continued, “We’re cautiously optimistic, we had a good meeting with them. That will not be on a fast track creatively. This is just the deal, now we have to find the creative.”

It’s not a huge surprise that Fox is hesitant as they carefully comb through the negotiations. According to TVInsider, “Any deal for 20th Century Fox TV to wade into the Marvel waters will require deft negotiating because Marvel is busy ramping up its own TV presence, starting with ABC’s current series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter. Next up, Marvel is producing the four Netflix series Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage, plus the miniseries The Defenders.”

The idea to bring X-Men over to Fox has been brewing for some time. Simon Kinberg, the scribe behind the 2014 movie X-Men: Days of Future Past, spoke with Collider while promoting the film. At the time he revealed that an X-Men series was bound to crop up sooner or later.

“We’re still in this place of figuring out what the future of the franchise will be, but when you look at S.H.I.E.L.D. to some extent and what Marvel is doing now with Daredevil and other shows on Netflix, it makes sense to tell some of these stories in TV.”

The rumors of the series goes back to October when Bleeding Cool said Fox was in “deep development” for the live-action television show.

So far Marvel hasn’t signed off on the series, so it looks like we have a long way to go before we see any creative development ensue.

Here’s a few fan responses over the news of a possible live-action series.
