New Bill Cosby Accuser Cindra Ladd: ‘I Was Horrified, Embarrassed And Ashamed’

Another woman is accusing Bill Cosby of drugging and sexual assault. Cindra Ladd, a former entertainment executive, alleges the comedian drugged and raped her 45 years ago.

Just when it seemed the steady stream of women coming forward to make drugging and rape allegations against Bill Cosby was ending, a new woman has come forward to make allegations against the comedian.

According to Cindra Ladd, who published her allegations on The Huffington Post on Monday, says she met Cosby in 1969 in New York when she was 21. He was 32 and married. She says he asked for her number, and while he was a gentleman at first as the two developed a friendship, things changed quickly.

Ladd alleges she and Cosby met one night at an apartment he said belonged to a friend. The two had plans to attend a movie that night, but Ladd had a headache. Cosby offered her, what he called, a “miracle cure” in the form of a capsule. When she inquired what it was, he would not tell her and repeatedly asked, “Don’t you trust me?” She eventually relented and this is where things become fuzzy for Ladd.

“For more than 45 years I have tried to recall exactly what happened that night. To this day it remains a blur. I have a vague recollection of feeling like I was floating while walking through Times Square and watching some kind of Japanese samurai movie with him. I don’t remember where the theater was nor very much of the evening.”

What she does recall, she says, is waking up nude on a bed in the friend’s apartment and seeing Cosby wearing a white terrycloth bathrobe, acting as if nothing happened. However, Cindra alleges something did happen and it was not consensual.

“It was obvious to me that he had had sex with me. I was horrified, embarrassed and ashamed. There was a mirror above the bed, which shocked me further.”

Ladd says reporting the incident to the police was not an option she considered.

“It never occurred to me to go to the police. It was a different time and ‘date rape’ was a concept that didn’t exist. I just kept asking myself over and over in disbelief why this had happened to me.”

The latest accuser says she kept her secret for 36 years, until nine years ago when another woman went public with allegations against Cosby. This is when she says finally told her husband of 30 years and later told the couple’s attorney, but decided at that time not to go public.

“I always thought I was the only one. I couldn’t believe he had done this to others. I told my story to our attorney, who is also a good friend, because I was considering going public then, but eventually chose not to because the case was settled.”

Cindra Ladd says she is only coming forward now because it’s the right thing to do. She maintains she has no interest in a lawsuit against Cosby, nor speaking any further about the alleged incident.

Over 20 women have come forward over the last few months to make drugging and sexual assault accusations against Bill Cosby. Most alleged incidents fall outside the statute of limitations in which an alleged victim can file criminal charges; however, one accuser, Chloe Goins, who says Cosby sexually assaulted her in 2008 at the Playboy Mansion, met earlier this month with LAPD detectives to seek criminal charges. His attorneys maintain, however, Cosby was not at the Playboy Mansion the night Goins alleges the assault took place. Two women have filed civil lawsuits against the comedian.
