Glee Spinoff Officially Dead, Characters to Stay on Glee

It looks like there is good news and bad news for fans of Glee.

Bad News: The spinoff that was planned for Lea Michele, Cory Monteith and Chris Colfer is officially dead. Speaking to the Television Critics Association winter press tour Fox entertainment chief Kevin Reilly said that they were not going to move forward.

Good News: It seems as if Glee Season 4 is going to include the three stars after all. In July of 2011, Glee creator Ryan Murphy had told The Hollywood reporter that the three characters (including a few more) would be graduating and leaving the show. He had said that in order for the show to have credibility with their audience they would have to have the characters move on.

Well, now Reilly is quoted as saying,

“Ryan Murphy has a really cool idea”

That idea, while remaining officially under wraps is going to be some sort of show within a show and will allow for him to bring back many of the characters.

Now, only Michele, Moteith and Colfer are confirmed to come back for season 4, no one yet knows the fate of Brittany, Santana, Puck, Mike, Tina. When asked Reilly explained,

“Creatively, we’d want everybody back. I’ve got to look at the contractual situation for all of those. And we will. I don’t want to…get into details. I’m just trying to whet your appetite. But I think it’s going to be a good thing for the show. It’s cool. It’s different.”

I bet all you gleeks are dying to know, are you?
