WWE News: Could Brock Lesnar Win The ‘Royal Rumble’ Match This Sunday?

Brock Lesnar is set to take on John Cena and Seth Rollins this Sunday at the Royal Rumble for the WWE World Heavyweight Title. Many believe he will win and go on to WrestleMania 31 to face off with the winner of the Rumble match, but what if that’s no longer in the cards? What if Lesnar loses his title and then still main events WrestleMania 31 by winning the rumble?

This may seem rather far-fetched, but it’s not impossible.

This past week on Monday Night Raw, Lesnar started a turn toward becoming a babyface when he went after Seth Rollins in the ring at the end of the show. He then proceeded to tear apart The Authority as the entire crowd cheered him on.

Brock Lesnar Royal Rumble

Bleacher Report believes that this Sunday will mark the full turn to being a baby face or good guy.

In the main event, Lesnar will take on Rollins, who is incredibly hated by the fans. Cena is booed by 75 percent of every audience that WWE appears before in every city in the world. Seeing Lesnar destroy them both could get the full crowd on his side.

Thinking about it though, what if Lesnar ended up losing the WWE World Heavyweight Title?

That could very well happen in the main event at the Royal Rumble without him ever getting pinned. Cena could pin Rollins or vice versa, and Lesnar would lose the title without ever even being directly involved in the decision.

From that point, what’s to stop him from entering the Rumble match? After SmackDown on Thursday, the Royal Rumble final card has only 19 announced entrants in the big match. That leaves 11 spots for some other random names, some surprise entrants, and quite possibly… the former WWE champion.

Joey Styles of WWE.com was a part of the staff picks for the website, and he went on a limb and chose a wild card for the winner of the Rumble match. He picked Lesnar.

“Here’s how it will go down: After losing the WWE World Heavyweight Championship without being beaten when Rollins pins John Cena, Lesnar will take another Superstar’s spot in the Royal Rumble Match after beating him into unconsciousness backstage. The enraged former UFC Heavyweight Champion will then leave battered and broken bodies strewn about ringside behind him as he starts his Road to WrestleMania — and revenge”

That is an interesting scenario, and Styles may have a very valid point with excellent reasoning behind it. If Lesnar really does end up leaving once his current deal is up in April, this could work very well for WWE.

If he ends up facing Rollins in the WrestleMania 31 main event, Lesnar would lose and be on his way out. That would solidify Rollins as a top, or the top, heel in the promotion and give him a lot of main event standing with that kind of victory.

Many believe that the winner of the match will be Bray Wyatt, Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, or Daniel Bryan. No one really thought about Lesnar winning the Royal Rumble, but when Styles puts it into perspective… it really makes sense.
