“Britney Spears, who released a pair of albums in the first half of the 2010s, dominated Billboard.com’s latest Readers Poll, snagging top honors in three of the four available categories. Amazingly, Spears won the most votes in our Defining Artist of the Half-Decade question as a write-in candidate.”

Despite having a difficult year with the critically and commercially maligned album ARTPOP, Billboard readers still remember that Lady Gaga was strong earlier in the decade with huge hits such as Bad Romance” and “Express Yourself.” The singer recently posted a picture of herself with Adele, giving hopes that these two mega-talented divas will record a duet together.

Speaking of Adele, her album 21 was voted as the best album of the 2010s. As AXS notes, Adele’s 21 is the first album this decade to sell over 10 million copies.

“Adele’s 21 album has finally sold over 10 million copies in the states. Billboard broke the news on Tuesday that her hit record reached the rare milestone, which is a major feat for any artist during this time of declining music sales.”

Despite all the acclaim from critics, Beyoncé didn’t make a major impact on the poll. She came in sceond with her self-titled album. However, as Gold Derby reports, Beyoncé is the Queen of the Grammy Awards, winning far more than any female artist in Billboard‘s poll.

“Beyoncé is only 33-years-old, but she’s already the Grammys’ third most awarded woman of all time. With 17 wins, she’s just one behind Aretha Franklin, and 10 shy of country singer Alison Krauss’s record.”

Britney Spears may not have Beyonce´s Grammy accolades, but Spears continues to be a huge concert attraction with her show in Las Vegas. What do you think of Britney Spears winning Billboard‘s latest poll? Tell us in the comments section.
