Dina Lohan Wants Daughter Lindsay Lohan To Move Back Home After Contracting Chikungunya

On Wednesday, actress Lindsay Lohan was released from a London hospital after being treated for Chikungunya, a rarely-lethal but incurable virus transmitted through mosquito bites. Lindsay’s concerned mother, Dina Lohan, immediately rushed to her daughter’s side.

According to reports, Lohan was hospitalized at King Edward VII’s Hospital after becoming so ill that she was barely able to walk. Chikungunya’s symptoms include fever and prolonged joint pain, both of which can be treated with medication. After Lindsay was discharged, she was referred to a specialist for further treatment.

According to the World Health Organization, “The joint pain is often very debilitating, but usually lasts for a few days or may be prolonged to weeks. Most patients recover fully, but in some cases joint pain may persist for several months, or even years.”

The CDC also released a report on Chikungunya.

“There is a risk that the virus will be imported to new areas by infected travelers. There is no vaccine to prevent or medicine to treat chikungunya virus infection. Travelers can protect themselves by preventing mosquito bites. When traveling to countries with chikungunya virus, use insect repellent, wear long sleeves and pants, and stay in places with air conditioning or that use window and door screens.”

Lindsay contracted the virus during a trip to Bora Bora over the holidays. The star revealed her diagnosis in a series of posts on her social media pages, including Twitter and Instagram. Prior to flying to London, Dina Lohan confirmed that Lindsay was indeed ill. However, she revealed that they were trying to keep the news out of the public eye.

“She went in four days ago, but we’ve tried to keep it quiet. I don’t know who leaked it,” Dina Lohan said.

A source tells Radar Online that Dina Lohan wants Lindsay to come home to Long Island to recuperate.

“Dina wants her to come home to New York when she is released,” the source said. “She is extremely worried for Lindsay and has suggested that she come back to live with her until her symptoms get better.”

The source added, “Lindsay is convinced that she can beat this, but has not been doing so well these past couple of weeks. She doesn’t understand why this is happening to her and feels that the timing ‘just sucks’ because she was finally ‘getting her s**t together’. Lindsay is strong, but when it comes to something like this, she is also really scared right now.”
