Samsung Galaxy S6 Final Specs Leaked: Should Apple Be Worried?

On Wednesday morning, final specs were leaked for the Samsung Galaxy S6. It has been a roller coaster of a ride for the competition between Samsung and Apple’s new phones. Only a couple days ago, it appeared that Apple had the upper hand in the competition. BGR, who received leaked pictures and specs of the Galaxy S6, reveals that Samsung’s next phone is literally out of this world.

“From a CPU that’s 50% faster, to an incredible quad-HD display, Samsung hit every angle with this year’s flagship phone. It will also have a payment feature which works with magnetic and NFC terminals, incredible cameras, and a gorgeous glass and metal body.”

BGR also listed the final specs:

  • 64-bit eight-core 14nm CPU
  • 5.1-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display with a 577ppi density
  • A 20 megapixel OIS camera sensor and a 5 megapixel f/1.8 front-facing camera with real-time HDR
  • 32 / 64 / 128GB of storage
  • 2550mAh battery
  • Built-in wireless charging
  • Four hours of usage on a 10 minute charge
  • Quick connect charging
  • Samsung Pay
  • Metal and glass body
  • Gorilla Glass 4
  • Cat 6 LTE

Twitter has been in celebration of the Galaxy S6 since BGR revealed its final specs.

Unfortunately, BGR did not indicate whether or not the Gear VR 2 would be launched with the Samsung Galaxy S6. A popular poster on the Gear VR Reddit forums recently talked about the upcoming Gear VR 2.

“Today, I met with a representative from Samsung, who claims that the Gear VR 2 will be available for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S6 in April. He said the screen resolution would be slightly higher, the Field of View will be larger and somehow, there will be less of a screen door effect. He said Samsung will add more controls to the headset. This sounds exciting!”

A couple days back, rumored specs were released for the iPhone 6s. Macworld UK reported on some of the features that had people calling the next iPhone a “Samsung Galaxy S6 killer.”

“We’re expecting Apple to stick with the 4.7 in display for the iPhone 6’s successor, as it’s a display size that seems to have gone down well with fans so far. The iPhone 6s’s camera will have a two-lens system that could help allow users to capture DSLR-quality imagery.”

There is no actual release date set yet for the Galaxy S6, although it could start appearing at stores by the end of March. This is bad news for owners of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, who believed they had the best Android smartphone money can buy. Samsung will definitely dominate 2015 with the Galaxy S6.
