WWE News: Former WWE Tag Team Champions The Dudleys Set To Be Surprise Entrants In Royal Rumble Match?

WWE is known for adding surprises to the Royal Rumble match. Usually WWE will add legends or bring back WWE Superstars just to take part in the match. It is usually a fun event that only gets better as the time increases in the match. This year, more surprises are expected to be added. Rumored names to be in the match are Sheamus, Randy Orton, DDP, RVD, and more.

However, the two names that no one thought we’d see again are Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley. Known as Devon and Bully Ray in TNA Wrestling, both men had successful tag team careers before they decided to go into a singles run. Ray lost some weight and came back looking great. He ended up becoming a two time TNA World Champion while Devon won the TNA TV Title. Both were of course TNA Tag Team Champions before as well.

The two spent around a decade with TNA once they were released from WWE. However, they always missed their WWE home. Bully Ray mentioned in interviews, even as TNA World Champion, that if WWE Chairman Vince McMahon wanted to have him back in WWE, he would jump at the chance. Since both Ray and D-Von have remained in great shape, WWE could use them off and on TV. That seems to be where WWE is leaning as well.

According to Daily Wrestling News, The Dudleys have been in contact with WWE regarding a return to the company. While nothing is confirmed, both are expected to be in Philadelphia to be in the Rumble match as surprise entrants. They also are rumored to have spoken to WWE regarding NXT trainer positions, which would fit the two perfectly.

The problem is, Bully Ray feels that he still has a good bit to contribute in his career as an active performer. TNA wants him back and he has been in discussions with TNA President Dixie Carter, however, he has not made up his mind about what opportunity to take. Meanwhile D-Von is seemingly slowing down, as he wants to spend more time with his family.

The TNA Hall of Fame Tag Team would be a good addition to WWE as trainers as they could richly help the WWE tag division and develop the next generation. The two have a school where they train people already, so it would make sense for them to work in NXT doing a similar job.

While again, nothing is set in stone, we can probably expect the Dudleys to make an appearance at the WWE Royal Rumble PPV this Sunday. If all goes well, both could sign legends deals and work as trainers while also making random appearances on the main roster here and there. WWE fans would certainly love to see them back.
