Jennifer Aniston Oscar Nomination Snub Causes Twitter Uproar

Even if Cake wasn’t widely viewed as one of the best movies of 2014, Jennifer Aniston‘s performance was widely praised. Forbes predicted that Jennifer Aniston would definitely be nominated for an Oscar.

“Ms. Aniston earned nominations for Best Actress from the Screen Actors Guild, the Critics Choice Awards, and the Golden Globes. Considering that the members of SAG make up the largest batch of would-be voters for the Academy, it has become that much more likely that the next Jennifer Aniston picture will be proclaiming ‘Academy Award Nominee Jennifer Aniston’ on the trailer.”

Aniston’s role in Cake mesmerized audiences. Even critics who were partial to Jennifer Aniston’s acting abilities offered praise. The Los Angeles Times summarized what a lot of critics thought about Aniston’s performance in Cake.

“As an accident victim whose nearly every move is excruciating, Aniston lends the role an impressively agonized physicality and brings ace timing to the screenplay’s welcome gallows humor.”

So while there was a lot of uproar over Selma not receiving more than two nominations, Twitter bashed the academy for not nominating Jennifer Aniston.

Despite what many consider one of the biggest Oscar snubs in entertainment history, Aniston still promoted Cake in an interview with the Huffington Post the very next day after the bad news.

“I needed to do it so I could prove to myself I was able to do it. So I wasn’t sitting there frustrated that I wasn’t getting certain parts because they knew something I didn’t know — which was that I couldn’t do it…It was almost just as good to be No. 1 snubbed than to be nominated.”

Jennifer Aniston’s so-called “nemesis,” Angelina Jolie, wasn’t nominated either. Ever since Brad Pitt left Aniston for Jolie in 2006, the media has created what many consider a war between the two. According to Entertainment Tonight, Jennifer Aniston wants to put the feud talk to rest.

“I think that’s slowly coming to an end. I really do. I mean, that movie is so beautiful and wonderful and she did such a gorgeous job. I think that it’s time people stop with that petty B.S. and just start celebrating great work and stop with the petty kind of silliness.”

There is no telling what Aniston will do next. One thing is certain: Cake has turned her into a serious actress and she will be offered a lot more roles now. Jennifer Aniston will likely get her deserving Oscar in the near future.
