Katy Perry Grammys video: I Kissed A Girl but I should have lip synced

katy-perry-i-kissed-a-girl-grammys

Maybe it’s the audio quality on the embed, but although she looked great, Katy Perry at the Grammy’s didn’t sound so great.

One things for sure: she most definitely DIDN’T lip sync.

Here’s Katy Perry signing I Kissed a Girl live at the Grammys.

  1. Stop picking on Britney!!!!! Oh wait, sorry. Continue. In other news, I don't think her singing is that bad. I've heard worse from bigger stars at awards shows (Red Hot Chili Peppers comes to mind)

  2. Whatta ya talking about? For live this is fine. People are so used to singers miming or singing along with a recorded vocal track that people who actually can't sing like the journalist of this article have no idea what can be expected when an artist is actually singing live? I have been mixing live vocalists for 20 years I know what I speak of here!

That was definitely lip-synced. At no point do her lips actually match what she's singing, nor does she even look like she's trying to sing. It just wasn't lip-synced to the original audio – it was lip-synced to a new, “fake live” vocal that has some tics in it to make it seem live to those who don't pay attention to such things (which is what a lot of “performers” do these days – Britney, etc.)

I was horrified by her singing. I didn't even want to watch her performance because her singing was terrible. I have seen some of her videos, and yes…she is a cute girl with a fun personality…and so this live performance was something I was looking forward to. As soon as she started singing I was hoping for it to get better and it seemed to only get worse. UGH! I think performers should know how to sing well live before they get a recording contract. It really bites for those that love the songs that are recorded and then the artist performs live in a poor voice. She had to put on all the glitz to gloss over her bad singing.

  5. I just saw it and look it up just to agree with you

I agree. She sounded awful – but she always does live. Someone should stop her from sining live on TV!
