Carey, Cannon Prenuptial Agreement Has A ‘No-Talking’ Clause Attached

Days after news broke that Nick Cannon filed to divorce his estranged wife, Mariah Carey, another bombshell, sort of, surfaced about a premarital agreement between the powerhouse couple. Prenups are nothing new, and should be expected, but according to Gossip Cop, Maria and Nick’s divorce includes a “No-Talking” clause that comes with a hefty penalty, should either party default.

The first juicy piece of buzz about Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon’s prenuptial agreement are the details on their finances back in their courting days. When the couple wed in 2008, Mariah had a net-worth of about $150 million, while Nick’s bankroll only clocked in at an abysmal half-a-million. Since then, both have obviously banked more: Carey continues to run up the album sales and command sell-out concerts while Nick produces music, has rebooted his Wild ‘n Out improv show on MTV2, and hosts America’s Got Talent.

The second part of Nick and Mariah’s prenup has an entry in the contract that forbids talking to the media about their private affairs. The confidentiality clause says Carey and Nick must pay the other $500,000 and $250,000, respectively for violating terms of said agreement. That is likely a drop in the tithing pot at church for Mariah, but it would probably be a dent in Cannon’s billfold.

According to TMZ, the couple has already agreed to a divorce settlement. However, the terms remain confidential. But, prenuptial agreement or not, it doesn’t appear that Carey and Cannon are slowing down soon in their professional lives.

Nick is supposedly gearing up for many things that are coming down the pipe. Nothing is officials, but “he don’t get tired.” As for his soon-to-be-ex-wife, Mariah will soon be making her debut in Las Vegas.

Sources say Mimi has finalized a deal with Caesars Palace to stand in for Celine Dion, who is reportedly out until late this year. Her reps say she took a leave of absence from her Vegas residency to care for her husband who is battling cancer. The terms of Mariah Carey’s deal are confidential, but rumor is her deal dwarfs that of Britney Spears.

News continues to emerge about the couple’s children: their daughter, Monroe, and son, Moroccan. Undoubtedly, the couple’s marital split is stressful on both sides. However, most sources agree that the parents pledge to remain civil for the sake of the kids. Stay tuned for more developments on Nick and Mariah’s prenuptial agreement. Don’t you get the feeling there’s more yet to be said about their divorce terms?
