WWE News: Major Backstage Heat On Dolph Ziggler And Why He Lost The Intercontinental Championship

WWE Superstar Dolph Ziggler has gained a lot of popularity over the years, but after WWE Survivor Series 2014, arguably he is over now more than he has ever been. WWE has noticed this, but so have a lot of other organizations. This led to Ziggler taking on a lot more interviews than before, and even doing other projects outside of WWE. However, this led to some issues with the company.

According to the Daily Wrestling News, WWE was very upset with Ziggler over recent improv comedy booking he scheduled without WWE permission. Keep in mind, this was at a time he knew he’d be able to do it. On top of that, he is “fired” from WWE at this point. If he knew this was the story he’d be in all along, he most likely could have done a few projects while away.

WWE didn’t like the idea of it regardless and chose to take the WWE Intercontinental Championship off of Ziggler due to it. WWE wanted to get Bad News Barrett back in the hunt for the championship, so he would have gotten the title back eventually. However, WWE was using the IC gold to elevate Ziggler. They took the title off of him in a way that still kept him looking strong, but the title was removed regardless.

Many think that the heat on Ziggler is overblown, and WWE took the IC Title off of him to help the story they were planning on doing that resulted in Ziggler being “released” from WWE. If he was still champion, WWE would have to take the title off of him regardless. So it made sense for the angle.

While Ziggler could very well have heat on him, WWE still has plans to bring he, Ryback, and Erick Rowan back to TV soon. All three are set to be in the Royal Rumble match in a few weeks. That means all three would have to be back right before the Rumble PPV or be back during the Rumble match itself.

Regardless, they will all be back soon. Ziggler has been favored to win it by a lot of people. While Roman Reigns was the original guy tapped for the win, WWE decided to nix that plan. Triple H reportedly told talent in a meeting that they had not yet decided on who would win the match. He claimed that they were still evaluating who they were going to use. He claimed that the person who impresses the most from then until the Rumble PPV would get the win.

While Dolph Ziggler has been impressive, people such as Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose are in contention. Bray Wyatt is also possible. WWE has a lot of decisions to make. At the end of the day, the heat on Ziggler probably won’t factor into anything, as he is still set to have a big match at WrestleMania 31.
