News that Cristiano Ronald and longtime girlfriend Irina Shayk have split shook the world, and now millions of women are on the hunt for the Real Madrid footballer’s heart.
Even though there is no official word about the split, Cristiano and Irina seemed to have hit a rough spot. She was not present for the Ballon d’Or ceremony, where he was named the best footballer in the world for a second year in a row.
Irina also reportedly did not join Cristiano and his family to celebrate his mother’s 60th birthday. Some of the reports suggest that was what broke the camel’s back, so to speak. The power couple have been inseparable until recently, frequently attending all gala events arm in arm.
But perhaps more significant is the fact that Shayk stopped following Cristiano on Twitter, and he didn’t mention her during his Ballon d’Or acceptance speech in Zurich earlier this month. Irina — who is a Russian supermodel — has also been posting photos of a tropical getaway, where she is solo. In case you’re wondering, Cristiano still follows Irina on Twitter.
Ronaldo is an avid social media user and generally keeps fans updated on his activities, so maybe we can expect some kind of statement announcing his split from Irina Shayk. But we should not count on it, since this is most definitely a private affair. Even if the superstar likes to share personal photos, he may not want to make a formal announcement.
We don’t know for sure what prompted Cristiano and Irina to split after so many years, but the rumors are that he dumped her for dissing his mom’s birthday party, according to a report in a newspaper from his native Portugal. However, things may have turned icy prior to that.
Coreio de Manhana reported that Shayk had told Ronaldo that she would not be attending the bash in his native Madeira, and the ensuing row served to end the pair’s five-year romance, the Daily Mail says. A source revealed what allegedly went down in the Cristiano and Irina split.
“Cristiano wanted to surprise his mum and as he spent Christmas with Irina in Dubai, he had planned to be with his mum on her birthday, but Irina didn’t want to go.
“They had such a big row that he ended up spending New Years Eve alone with his son.
“Irina mouthed off about Dolores and Ronaldo took sides with him mum. It was the straw that broke the camel’s back because they had hadn’t been getting on well in the last few months.”
