Spoiler Alert: What To Expect From ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ In The New Year

It’s been a very long winter hiatus for fans of Grey’s Anatomy, and while there are still two weeks to wait until new episodes start to air again, a few details about what’s coming up next are starting to trickle in via press releases and interviews with actors from the show. When the show returns, expect lots of drama and a few tears.

Pregnant April Kepner-Avery remains optimistic about her baby’s health, but hubby Jackson Avery turns to someone else for consolation after he learns about his son’s diagnosis. Speaking of Robbins, the actor who plays her, Jessica Capshaw, was interviewed by TVLine, and they reported that the couple known as Calzona will probably not reconcile anytime soon, if at all. The couple isn’t even interacting very much according to Capshaw.

“The best thing the writers could have done, which is what they did for at least these next six episodes, is have [Arizona and Callie] just be on their own. They haven’t had to butt up against each other or be sad. They both dove into their own lives and have lived there.”

There is a possibility in Episode 15 that Callie may meet someone who peaks her interest, and at first she turns him down… yes, HIM… but later changes her mind and accepts a date with the mystery man. There is also a rumored hook-up for Callie with a lady sales executive in an earlier episode.

As reported by Broadway World, a February episode will reveal that Derek Shepard is getting ready to leave for D.C., and Meredith Grey keeps herself busy at the hospital. Word is even though they are preparing to have a long-distance relationship, it may not tear them apart as it appeared to during the last episode. Somehow, they make it work for both of them.

Another doctor is put in danger when she is in a car crash and is pinned in her car. Even though she needs to be rescued herself, she manages to give a young girl advice about helping her mother. The girl and mother are also pinned in their vehicle next to the unknown doctors.

In other scoops, Meredith, Miranda Bailey, and Maggie Pierce have a patient with a tumor, and they use the 3D printer to learn more about how to help their patient. It is also time for the interns to pick their surgical specialties, and Stephanie Edwards makes a surprising choice because of her admiration for the doctor that runs the department whose specialty she selects.

There hasn’t been any more information on the transgender character that is supposed to be arriving at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital according to a report in the Inquisitr. The return date for Grey’s Anatomy is still a couple of weeks away, and the cast members of the show, along with those of Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder, suggest ways to cope with the lack of #TGIT until January 29.
