Chris Pratt Visits Young Fan In Hospital Who Kicked Cancer’s Butt

Chris Pratt is riding high as Hollywood’s new “It guy.” He starred in last summer’s hit movie, Guardians of The Galaxy and this summer’s upcoming Jurassic World, a role that will surely put him in the company of Hollywood elite. Pratt was also named GQ Magazine’s 2014 Man of the Year, and although he’s a busy man, he still makes time to visit his young fans who are sick in hospitals. In addition to all of his roles, you can add all around good guy to the list.

Pratt paid a special visit to a young fan and shared this photo on Facebook Thursday morning, in which he smiles with Emma, a young patient at the Children’s Hospital of Orange County who just became a cancer survivor.

The 35-year-old Parks and Recreation actor wrote this on his Facebook page.

“After a long battle with childhood leukemia, Emma is going home cancer free!!! Atta girl! You kicked cancer’s butt!!! Thank you to Children’s Hospital Orange County for setting up an amazing visit and to Emma for my wonderful painting.”

Last summer, Chris surprised families involved with the Variety the Children’s Charity of New York and Children of Promise following a Guardians of the Galaxy screening.

“Take it from a kid who grew up having no money,” he said. “If you stick to your path, and you believe in yourself and you be courageous enough to be yourself you can grow up, you can be your own Star-Lord.”

In August, Pratt also dropped in on the Los Angeles Children’s Hospital, where he seems to have had a stellar time playing with Legos. And before that, Pratt revealed that he stole parts of his costume and came dressed as his Star-Lord character from Guardians of The Galaxy in the hopes that he could use it to make kids smile. He admits he loves doing all this for the kids.

He told Panzer TV in July, “If it was a big enough movie, to where it would mean something to a kid who’s sick in the hospital for Peter Quill or Star-Lord to come visit them, I’ll do that. I think that’s awesome, man. I stole the jacket and some of the wardrobe so that, if this movie comes out and does what everyone hopes it can, I can follow the example of someone — say, like, a Russell Wilson, you know — and go visit kids.”

The actor supported another charity effort in December at March of Dimes’ Celebration of Babies, as reported by E! News. Chris and his actress wife, Anna Faris, became parents nine weeks early when Jack Pratt was born in August 2012. At the time, their newborn son weighed just three pounds, 12 ounces

During the event, Chris joked, “That’s a decent-sized bass. Very small for a human.”

On a more serious note, he said, “I’ve done all kinds of cool things as an actor: I’ve jumped out of helicopters and done some daring stunts and played baseball in a professional stadium, but none of it means anything compared to being somebody’s daddy.”
