The top-level extension became publicly available just moments ago, at 11 a.m. ET. They’re running about $20 a pop and are expected to go quickly.

Squatters, Start Your Engines. And They're Off.

All the good domains will be gone in a week. Would be interesting to see a live feed of the domains getting registered.

.Com is the standard, by-far. there is no question.

i wouldn't build a site on .Me, even though it's a prime keyword.
the only people buying .me are domain speculators.

all the good domains are already pre-bidded on. in the earlier phase.
new extensions are coming and going, it's shaky to say the least.

instead of speculating on half-ass names, and weird extensions…just build a .com community site of some sort
