Reese Witherspoon Says Hubby Jim Toth is Different Than Everyone She’s Met

It’s been nearly a year since Oscar-winning actress Reese Witherspoon wed talent-agent husband Jim Toth, but it appears Witherspoon is still very much in the honeymoon stage with her entertainment-industry spouse.

As you probably know, Witherspoon has been hurt before- the 35-year-old broke up with first husband Ryan Phillippe, who she married in 1999. The pair, parents to daughter Ava and son Deacon, divorced in 2006, citing irreconcilable differences. And like several recently divorced women, it seems Witherspoon had to deal with unwanted advances by drunk would-be suitors- one of which led to her current relationship.

The story is part of an overall larger arc of praise Witherspoon lavishes on Toth in the recent issue of Elle. The actress says that her husband’s character and grace is what sets him apart from other men, and she explains the story of how they met due to one drunken lout’s clumsy pass at her:

“Jim came over and said, ‘Please excuse my friend, he’s just broken up with someone,’…I remember thinking… Jim was a really good friend, pulling [his drunk pal] out of that situation. That’s just kind of who he is, a really good person.”

Witherspoon says Toth has really helped her overcome her fears following the divorce from Phillippe- she explains:

“I used to be afraid to travel and afraid to leave my house, afraid to leave my kids – that something horrible was going to happen… [Jim] really surprised me. You don’t know who you’re going to end up with. When I was 20, if you’d asked me… I wouldn’t have said Jim. Jim’s like, ‘I’m gonna show you every day what a good partner is, what a good person is,'” ‘I’m going to take care of you. I’m going to do it so much that you’re gonna get used to it.'”
