Ellen DeGeneres Divorce: Ellen Backs Out Of Relationship Counseling, But Defends Marriage Publicly

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are reportedly headed for divorce after the shaky reconciliation they formed months ago has fallen apart thanks to jealousy and non-stop fighting.

The couple was plagued with divorce rumors throughout the last year, with sources close to the couple saying that Ellen’s controlling ways were pushing Portia away. The tension culminated with a trip back to rehab for Portia, who reportedly got into heavy drinking again as a way to escape the strained marriage.

But the couple found a way to work through their problems, with Ellen reportedly giving up drinking in solidarity with Portia and the couple heading to marriage counseling.

That may be over now. A source told In Touch (via Celeb Dirty Laundry) that Ellen is tired of working so hard to fix the marriage and may be ready to call it quits.

“They’re always trying to downplay their problems, but privately they’re still arguing over everything… Ellen’s decide to stop going to marriage counseling. She thought it was too time-consuming and a waste.”

“Ellen is so insecure. She’s terrified Portia is going to meet someone younger and prettier. She’s not just worried about Portia meeting another woman, either. Her biggest fear is that Portia will go back to men.”

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are also finding their marriage under attack from the outside. Last week, pastor Larry Tomczak criticized their marriage in an op-ed column in the Washington, D.C.-based Christian Post.

“The indoctrination and propaganda coming from those advocating a gay lifestyle in our country, classrooms and culture are increasing… All of us need to take note and take action to guard those we love.”

Ellen took the unusual step of addressing the rumors, telling the audience at her talk show that she wasn’t trying to push any kind of agenda.

“Let’s just break this down: First of all, I’m not ‘married,’ I’m married. That’s all,” she said to applause from the audience.

“Listen to the sound of my voice… Attention, youth of the world: I want you to live your lives, being exactly who you are. Be true to yourself. The most important thing is to be true to yourself. The second-most important thing is that you wear Ellen underwear, and only Ellen underwear. And now, audience, look into my vortex and dance with me.”

But while she may be defending her marriage, Ellen DeGeneres has not spoken about the divorce rumors or reports of trouble with Portia de Rossi.
