‘Dragon Age: Inquisition’ Stats Reveal Twice as Many Fans Prefer To Play As Male Characters

While gamers are given the option to choose their gender within Dragon Age: Inquisition, more than twice as many users pick male characters opposed to female protagonists. Bioware released player-preference statistics for gender options in Dragon Age: Inquisition from the game’s official Twitter account on Thursday.

Across all platforms, 68 percent of Dragon Age: Inquisition players select male Inquisitors, while only 32 percent are female. However, that ratio changes when the numbers from each system are looked at individually. For example, Xbox One players are more likely to make male characters than any other platform.

PC gamers, on the other hand, are much more willing to play as a female protagonist. Another interesting discrepancy between platforms is that those playing Dragon Age: Inquisition on last-gen platforms seem to be more open to creating a female character than either Xbox One or Playstation 4 players.

Besides being able to select the protagonist’s sex in Dragon Age: Inquisition, fans are also able to choose to play as a variety of different fantasy races. In addition to humans, users can also decide to be other typical fantasy races, such as elves and dwarves. For the first time in the series, gamers can also play as a Qunari character in Dragon Age: Inquisition.

The newly revealed gender statistics follow yesterday’s announcement that showcased how many dragons have been killed thus far inside Dragon Age: Inquisition. As the Inquisitr reported, Bioware confirmed that over 2.6 million dragons have now been defeated since the game’s launch.

While the developer slowly unveils a series of Dragon Age: Inquisition gameplay statistics, fans shouldn’t hope to hear how long it takes the average player to beat the title in game time because there isn’t a calendar that tracks passage of time. Dragon Age: Inquisition lead writer David Gaider stated earlier this week that there isn’t a definitive answer for how much time passed during the events of the game and that the writing team will have to decide a canon timeline before the next Dragon Age game is released.

“Moving forward, the team will eventually have to establish a timeline for the record and say approximately how long the events of DAI ‘officially’ took — but we haven’t done that just yet, and considering the vast differences in time it could take someone to complete the game, I suspect it’ll have to be left pretty vague.”

Bioware is expected to continue to reveal additional player stats from their recent fantasy game. What sex did you play in Dragon Age: Inquisition? Did you follow the trend as a male character or did you make a female Inquisitor?
